Qn : What is Emotional Intelligence?

Answer : The ability to assess, perceive, evaluate and control the emotion of oneself and others is referred to as Emotional intelligence (EI). The characteristic can either be innate or can be learned or strengthened. A person high on emotional Intelligence is better at perceiving and managing emotions, is generally more approachable and open, less likely to engage in risky behaviors like smoking, drinking, drug abuse etc., and has more positive social and mental effectiveness.

The leading researchers, Peter Salovey and John D. Mayer have defined emotional intelligence as, “the subset of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor one's own and others' feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one's thinking and actions”

Thus, the virtue of EI is proved by science as a significant tool to retain and maintain healthy relationship both personally and professionally.
